Jazz Festival 'always a trip,' says opener Colin James
Colin James says he has been coming to the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival in Saskatoon for a good long time, but it remains one of his favourite gigs.
"It's always a trip man," James said, with a laugh. "I was thinking today I played Saskatoon back at the Sun Dog festival when I was like 13 years old, so I have been coming here a long time doing that."
James opened the festival with a show Friday night before a large crowd at the Bessborough Gardens. He said his passion for music has always been with him.
"I've been doing this for years and years and years," he added. "And its really all I wanted to do: to play music for a living, and that's what I have managed to do. So it is always gratifying you know."
James is one of over 100 acts that will play in Saskatoon through to June 29.
