A construction accident forced the closure of a major Saskatoon tourism destination Tuesday morning.

Crews hit an unmarked natural gas line which forced an evacuation of Wanuskewin Heritage Park, the site said on its website.

Everyone got out safely, Wanuskewin said. SaskEnergy is completing repairs.

Members of the public are being warned to stay away from the site for the rest of the day.

The park is expected to reopen Tuesday, Wanuskewin said.

All previously arranged tours have been contacted and will be rescheduled.
