A fire is burning in a vacant home on 20th Street West
Firefighters in Saskatoon are still on the scene of a house fire at 1813 20th Street West this morning.
The call came in of smoke billowing from the boarded-up bungalow just before 5 a.m. CST. Fire crews arriving on scene were confronted with flames shooting from the basement windows.
The home is reportedly vacant.
Crews attacked the fire from the front and back of the house. But it was tough going for firefighters as the fire was in the basement, and then walls.
Crews were cautious about entering the house because the floors had been weakened by the flames.
A two block stretch of 20th Street was closed down for emergency trucks.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started.
More to follow.
