Cutting tools used in Saskatoon rescue after SUV flips with 7 people inside

Rescuers from the Saskatoon Fire Department had to cut one person out of an SUV that flipped on its side shortly before midnight on Friday.

Rescuers from the Saskatoon Fire Department had to cut one person out of an SUV that flipped on its side shortly before midnight on Friday.

The individual was among seven people inside the vehicle when it crashed at the intersection of Idylwyld Drive and 25th Street E. 

Five of the occupants were able to get out of the vehicle through the rear hatch before fire crews arrived.

Rescuers helped one of two remaining people stuck inside to escape through the rear window. Cutting tools were used to rescue the final occupant, who was in the passenger seat area.

Four people were hospitalized with what appeared to be minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The fire department said the cause of the crash is unknown.
