Battlefords RCMP working to ID victim of house fire

Police are working with Saskatchewan Coroners Service to identify the remains.

RCMP say early investigation determined one person was trapped inside the structure.

Battlefords RCMP is working with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to determine the ID of a person who was killed in a house fire in the community of Cochin. (CBC)

A person is dead following a structure fire in the community of Cochin on Sunday.

At roughly 4 a.m. on July 14, Battlefords RCMP were dispatched to a structure fire in the community, which is located 173 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.

The police investigation determined a small cabin had caught fire with one person inside. 

The fire is not considered suspicious.

The Battlefords RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroner's Office are working to identify the dead person's identity in order to notify family.
