A smoke detector is credited with saving a Saskatoon family from an early morning fire.

The detector went off at 3:25 a.m. CST in the house at 510 Bronson Crescent. The family called 911 and, when fire crews arrived, they found smoke in the basement of the south-east bungalow.

The fire was put out in a few minutes and there were no injuries. Everyone had evacuated from the house by the time fire crews arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $10,000.
