City of Saskatoon issues statement on security after soldier shot in Ottawa

The shock of a soldier being shot today, and the on-going search for suspects in a number of locations in downtown Ottawa, is being felt in Saskatoon, as city hall is tries to reassure citizens that it takes security seriously.

The shock of a soldier being shot today, and the on-going search for suspects in a number of locations in downtown Ottawa, is being felt in Saskatoon, as city hall is tries to reassure citizens that it takes security seriously.

The city issued the following statement from Tim Halstead, the Director of Facilities and Fleet Management.

“The City of Saskatoon takes the safety our staff and the residents visiting City hall very seriously and have security plans in place.  However, we are constantly working with our internal partners, such as the Fire Department, the Saskatoon Police Service and the Emergency Measures Organization, to refine our security plans. Because we are talking about security measures we cannot disclose the details of these plans as that could be a security risk in-and-of itself.”
