A driver who rolled his car on Friday night is grateful he remembered to use his safety belt.

When a Saskatoon Fire Department crew arrived at the crash site at Idylwyld Drive at the Lorne Avenue exit at about 6:30 p.m. they found the car on its roof and the driver suspended upside down in his seatbelt, according to a department news release.

After stabilizing the car to ensure it wouldn't move, the rescuers cut the seatbelt, freeing the driver, who was able to crawl out of the vehicle through the rear driver-side window.

The driver was transferred to the ambulance service. The driver's condition has not been made public.
