A windmill in rural Saskatchewan was severely damaged when someone in a pickup truck tied a rope to the structure and pulled it down, RCMP say.

The Swift Current rural detachment of the RCMP said a red truck, with a large cab, was seen on a farm property in the rural municipality of Webb late in the afternoon on June 3.

According to police, the suspects tied a rope to the windmill and, using their truck, ripped the windmill from its foundation.

More damage was done when they moved their rope to a nearby building, and pulled down part of a wall.

Police estimate the damage at approximately $5,000.

The suspect left, but not before placing a yellow 'Danger' sign at the scene.

Police were asking anyone who may have information on the vandalism to contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
