The University of Regina has held a grand opening for its new daycare centre.

Awasis Child Care will have spots for 90 children

The University of Regina has held a grand opening for its new daycare centre.

The Awasis Child Care Centre is located in the new Kisik residential towers. It is licensed to accommodate 90 children.

Awasis is in addition to the other daycare on campus, Wascana Co-operative Daycare, which is located in the College West building.

Wascana Daycare will expand to 90 spaces from 45 in the building it previously shared with Awasis.

In a news release, the provincial government said it spent $1.34 million on the new facility.

University students have priority in obtaining daycare spots for their kids, but some spaces will be available for Regina families, the province says.
