A 17-year-old died when the pick-up truck he was a passenger in crashed Thursday morning, police say.

A 17-year-old died when the pick-up truck he was a passenger in crashed Thursday morning, police say.

Another passenger, an adult woman, was injured in the crash and taken to hospital.

RCMP said the driver, a 34-year-old man, faces several charges, including impaired driving and dangerous driving causing death.

According to police, the truck was on a rural road near Highway 21, about 13 kilometres north of Pierceland, Sask., when it left the road and plowed into a stand of trees.

Police said they were called to the crash around 9 a.m. CST Thursday.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pierceland is about 386 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
