Suspicious fire causes $500,000 damage in Emma Lake
Fire took place Sept. 3
Investigators are continuing to look into a suspicious fire that caused severe damage to several trailers and a cabin at Sunset Bay on Emma Lake.
Fire crews were sent to the blaze on Sept. 3, shortly after 11 p.m. CST. They encountered one trailer fully engulfed in flames.
By the time they were able to douse the flames, two camping trailers were destroyed. The fire also caused severe damage to a cabin and another camper.
The losses were estimated at $500,000, RCMP said.
The Prince Albert detachment of the RCMP is asking members of the public for assistance on the case.
"A small group of people are known to have been in the Sunset Bay area, possibly on foot, between 10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. [that night] and they are being considered persons of interest in the investigation and are asked to come forward," RCMP said in a statement issued Monday.
They added that anyone who witnessed anything unusual is asked to contact them 306-765-5500 or call Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
