Sick Regina boy who made waves around the world dies
Tyler Puetz died Saturday after being diagnosed with brain cancer nine months ago
A six-year-old Regina boy with brain cancer who gained attention around the world has died.
The family of Tyler Puetz said he died peacefully Saturday afternoon.
"James and I walked out of the hospital without our son and this just doesn't seem real," read a post on a Facebook page dedicated to Tyler.
"We are not in shock as we know this beast was going to win. I'm just completely devastated that the fight for Tyler is over."
The Facebook page "Sailing Around the World for Tyler" was started after the boy was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour nine months ago.
Family friend Chad Bremner came up with a way to lift the boy's spirits by taking a sockmonkey, named after Tyler, with him on a sailing trip around the world.
Despite the fact that the trip was supposed to happen in September, the monkey had taken several trips already.
People posted pictures of the monkey in different places with messages for Tyler and his family.
The family said they will post more information on funeral arrangements on the page.
