A house fire that damaged a home at 433 Avenue G South on Saskatoon's west side may have been deliberately set, fire officials say.

The fire at the two-storey home that burned Tuesday afternoon caused about $200,000 in damage.

Initially, there was a concern that someone might be inside. Officials confirmed there was someone at home when the fire broke out, but they managed to get out safely.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

It has been deemed suspicious in nature, the Saskatoon fire department said Thursday.

Police and fire investigators are still trying to find out what caused the fire.
