Regina hotel operators have reached into their hat and pulled out ... a magic festival.

ReginAcadabra was pronounced the winner Friday of the Regina Hotel Association's Event of Events competition.

The people behind the proposed festival receive a $20,000 sponsorship to start up the new event.

The original 42 entries were whittled down to 11 official contestants, who pitched their event idea to a panel of judges.

The final three included the magic fest, the Great Saskatchewan Mustard Festival and, from the University of Regina's business students society, the Hill Case Competition.

ReginAcadabra got the highest score.

According to the hotel association, it will include public magic shows, ticketed performances and a magic-industry convention over two to three days.

There has been no date set yet for the first ReginAcadabra.
