Firefighters are investigating after responding to a house fire in Regina's core early Saturday.

A fire broke out early Saturday in Regina.

Regina fire crews are investigating after a blaze broke out at a home early Saturday. 

The fire started around 6 a.m. on the 1800 block of Montreal Street near Winnipeg Street.

It started on the main floor and quickly spread to the second, said Layne Jackson, deputy fire chief.

Crews had the blaze under control within about 30 minutes. 

Jackson said investigators are still trying to find out how the fire started. 

No one was inside the house at the time, but Jackson said they are working to determine if it is vacant or occupied.
