Two Prince Albert, Sask., police officers have been charged with assault and suspended following an investigation by the province's Public Complaints Commission.

The charges arise from two separate incidents and two complainants — a man and a woman.

It's alleged that while on duty, they used excessive force. One of the officers has two years' experience while the other has been with the city police force for seven years.

It's alleged the incidents happened in early October and December last year.

The two have been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the case.

Police did not immediately identify the two officers. They're scheduled to appear in court later this month.
