A byelection in Lloydminster made necessary by the departure of former MLA Tim McMillan will be held Thursday, Nov. 13.
Premier Brad Wall announced the date on Thursday. He said he wanted the election held before the end of the fall sitting.
On Sept. 18, McMillan announced he was quitting cabinet and resigning his seat to work for Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, or CAPP.
Under the rules, the byelection would have to be held by March 31, 2015.
McMillan, the former minster for rural and remote health, had been the MLA for Lloydminster since 2007.
His new job at CAPP started Oct. 1.
In addition to the vacant Lloydminster seat, there are 48 seats held by the Saskatchewan Party and nine held by the NDP.
