Investigators in Mexico believe a Saskatchewan man invited his killers to his rented apartment, where drugs were consumed, before they stabbed him to death.
Police have told CBC they recovered drug paraphenalia in the room of Duane Lang, a Regina man who was found dead in Puerto Vallarta in late July.
Lino Gonzales, who's with the prosector's office, said investigators believe Lang invited one, two, or more people to his rented apartment.
"It was premeditated to kill him, to steal [from] him," Gonazales said through a translator.
Lang's family arrived in Puerto Vallarta Monday and it's believed they will be talking to investigators.
No one has been charged in the case.
