Possible tornado in the Prince Albert area

People in the Birch Hills area of Saskatchewan, about 150 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, are reporting funnel clouds have been seen as part of a storm system.

The area from Birch Hills to Meadow Lake is under a severe thunderstorm watch with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds, according to Environment Canada.

Another funnel cloud was observed near the hamlet of Hagen, about 50 kilometres from Prince Albert.

Carl Barber was driving in the area and said the cloud may have reached the ground.

"I hit for the nearest farmyard basically and told them I seen this tornado coming," Barber told CBC News Tuesday afternoon.

Depending on the location the strong winds associated with funnel clouds can be very destructive.
