Fire destroys grain elevator in Turtleford, Sask.

The town of Turtleford will be cleaning up today following a massive fire at a grain elevator on Tuesday night.

Fire has destroyed a grain elevator in the community of Turtleford, Sask.

It started at about 10 p.m. CST Tuesday and continued all night.

In the morning Wednesday, there was still some fire flickering, but the structure had been reduced to rubble.

Fire services from Turtleford and around the region were called in to fight the blaze.

Highway 26 was also closed for several hours due to the smoke and flames, but it's back open now.

SaskPower said power went out around 10:30 p.m., but was back on around six hours later.

Turtleford is 89 kilometres northwest of North Battleford.
