Fafard horses adorn banks of St. Lawrence

A set of horse sculptures by celebrated Saskatchewan artist Joe Fafard has been unveiled in Quebec City.

A set of horse sculptures by celebrated Saskatchewan artist Joe Fafard has been unveiled in Quebec City.

The works, eight works of metal horses in motion, stand on a strip of park along the St. Lawrence River.

Fafard, 68, was on hand for the unveiling Thursday.

The horses were done as a tribute to the close relationship that has existed over the years between Calgary and Quebec City. Fafard has completed another set of horses, to be unveiled next week in Calgary.

Fafard's home is in the Lumsden, Sask., area about 30 kilometres northwest of Regina.
