The Saskatchewan government is warning people with private wells or water cisterns to take extra precautions this spring.
The Watershed Authority and the Ministry of Health warned people Tuesday to be alert for signs of flooding if they rely on water from private supplies.
The Watershed Authority is offering free testing of private wells and cisterns to see if they are contaminated with bacteria or nitrates.
People can call 1-866-837-8420 to find out if they are eligible.
The testing will be available between April 18 and June 1.
Officials pointed out in a news release that public water supplies are routinely tested and will be closely monitored in the event of flooding.
