8 people plead guilty to stealing from First Nation

Poundmaker First Nation Chief Duane Antoine and seven other people made an appearance at a North Battleford courtroom Monday and pleaded guilty to theft under $5,000.

Poundmaker First Nation Chief Duane Antoine and seven other people made an appearance at a North Battleford courtroom Monday and pleaded guilty to theft under $5,000.

The accused are facing allegations of misspending band and treaty land entitlement money.

Three people also pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $5,000.

All are due back in court for sentencing in September.

Another of the accused, Victoria McMillan, pleaded not guilty to several charges including theft, fraud and criminal breach of trust.

Three additional charges against McMillan were laid Sunday.
