Island Trails, a group that devoted to hiking on P.E.I., has relaunched its web site to help new hikers find a new favourite trail.

With its revamped interactive, bilingual website and new Facebook and Twitter accounts the group is hoping to get more people appreciating the hard work the group has been doing.

"We spent a lot of volunteer time and energy in the last couple of years reconstructing some of the trails.  People weren't even aware that these trails existed," said Island Trails vice president Bryson Guptill.

"With this new design people can find the trails much easier."

Guptill said the group hopes the move to social media will attract younger hikers.

"We still have a lot of active participants who are older hikers, but there's a younger group now that's coming along and quite excited about the possibilities of hiking and doing it here on P.E.I.," he said.

In addition to maps, the website has photogalleries and a news and events section.
