The Island's 27 snow crab fishermen were given the go-ahead Monday by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to start their season at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Carter Hutt of Alberton, P.E.I., is head of the P.E.I. snow crab fishermen's group.
The fishermen are happy to get the season underway, Hutt said, but he doesn't think any crab will be landed until Friday because windy weather expected Wednesday and Thursday may prevent them from setting traps.
