P.E.I. business man headed to China for entrepreneur summit
A trip to Beijing may bring more business to the Island
Omar Kandel is packing his bags for a long journey to Beijing, one he hopes will bring more business to P.E.I.
Kandel is part of a delegation to the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance and is the Island's only representative on the trip.
The summit gathers young business people from the G20 countries to attend seminars and network with each other.
The summit also promotes youth entrepreneurship and brings together hundreds of the world's top young entrepreneurs to share their ideas with the B20 and G20 leaders
Kandel said it's an honour to represent P.E.I. and let people know about building a business here.
"The main reason I got into this line of work, or one of the main reasons, is every time I travel and I tell people I'm from P.E.I I get disappointed because they do not know where P.E.I. is or what P.E.I. is," he said
Kandel said the summit will also help to promote his business, OSAR Enterprise. He is working on a plan to build a water bottling plant on the Island for high end water.
"My plan is to brand Prince Edward Island like Fiji so people got to know the island through its product or through this particular product and I want to brand P.E.I. under the brand Rouge," he said.
"This will drive more tourists to us and this product can act as an invitation in a bottle."
His plan is just in the beginning stages, but he hopes the summit will supply him with more places to send his product.
The summit takes place Sept. 8 to 10.
