Dingwells Mills house fire shuts down highway in eastern P.E.I.
No injuries in fire related to cooking, house sustains moderate amount of damage
Nobody was injured in a fire in Dingwells Mills that shut down a section of Route 2 in eastern P.E.I. for a couple of hours Wednesday night.
The cause is believed to be related to cooking, the provincial fire marshal's office has told CBC News.
The Souris fire department and RCMP were called to the fire about 8 p.m. St. Peters and Central Kings fire departments were called in to assist.
The home was empty when the fire started but someone did return while firefighters were on the scene.
The fire marshal says the home sustained a moderate amount of damage.
