Wind advisory continues on Confederation Bridge
First snow could fall overnight
Strong winds restricted traffic on Confederation Bridge for about 45 minutes Friday afternoon, and a wind advisory continues.
High-sided vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, and motorcycles are not allowed on the bridge when wind speeds exceed 70 km/h. At 1 p.m. the bridge was recording winds of 80 km/h with gusts to 95.
The morning started breezy and mild on P.E.I., but the temperature is expected to drop rapidly this afternoon, to 0 C around sunset.
Restrictions possible into Saturday
The day will remain blustery, with winds expected to continue to blow through the night. As temperatures fall showers could switch to flurries, but no accumulation of snow is expected.
Confederation Bridge advises restrictions could return up until about 3 p.m. Saturday.
