Police investigating deaths of mother, 9-year-old daughter in Charlottetown
No danger to public, police say
The Charlottetown police major crime unit is investigating the deaths of a 47-year-old woman and her nine-year-old daughter in the Sherwood area.
Police believe it is an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the public.
"Public safety is not a concern," said Cpl. Darren MacDougall.
The mother and daughter were found in their home overnight, police say.
Yellow caution tape has been set up around a house in Sherwood where several police vehicles are present.
The forensic identification unit is assisting with the investigation. Autopsies are scheduled for Sunday in Halifax.
Police say next of kin have been notified. Police say they will provide more information as soon as possible, which they said may not be until Monday.
