P.E.I. has new fire marshal

Prince Edward Island's deputy fire marshal has been promoted.

Prince Edward Island's deputy fire marshal has been promoted.

Dave Rossiter replaces David Blacquiere who has retired after serving as fire marshal for 20 years.

Public Safety Minister Doug Currie says Rossiter has more than 25 years experience with Island fire service, including as chief of the St. Peter's fire department.

He has also served as vice president of the Maritime Fire Chiefs Association and  provincial director to the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.

Rossiter is certified as a fire and explosives investigator with the National Association of Fire Investigators.

The Fire Marshal's Office administers the Fire Prevention Act and regulations as well as fire safety codes and standards.
