New Year's Eve party and concert wrap-up 2014 celebrations

The details were announced Wednesday for the wrap-up party for the P.E.I. 2014 year-long celebrations.

2014 wrap up party will take place at Credit Union Place in Summerside (P.E.I. 2014)

The details were announced Wednesday for the wrap-up party for the year long P.E.I. 2014 celebrations.

A finale concert will be held on New Year's Eve featuring Burton Cummings, The Rankin Family and country rockers Doc Walker.

The concert will be held at the Eastlink Arena at Credit Union Place in SummersideTickets go on sale on Oct. 18.

There will also be free family indoor and outdoor activities.

The grounds of Credit Union Place will be turned into a winter wonderland by illuminated ice sculptures created by Canada's national ice sculpting team. 

There will also be buskers and an outdoor stage featuring Island entertainers.

Indoor activities will include free skating, bowling, swimming, a children's play zone with inflatables and special children's entertainment.

"I am very pleased to see the final event of the 2014 Celebrations take place in the beautiful city of Summerside," said Egmont MP and Fisheries Minister Gail Shea in a news release. "New Year's Eve is a great time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the celebration of Confederation in 2017."

The P.E.I. 2014 closing ceremonies will include a special review of the past year's celebrations and will be capped off with a fireworks display.

A shuttle service from Charlottetown will be available.
