Upside Software is based in Edmonton and makes contract management programs.

It's been named one of Canada's 50 best-managed companies.

The company plans to hire six information technology (IT) professionals immediately for the new office, and has a long-term goal of expanding the P.E.I. office even further.

"Upside Software is well recognized around the world and this is an excellent opportunity for talented IT professionals to practice their craft and gain valuable work experience," said Innovation Minister Allan Campbell.

Innovation PEI will provide a labour cost rebate on jobs the company keeps for two years.

"P.E.I. has appealing characteristics for talented staff that will be knowledgeable and hard working," said Upside Software president and CEO, Ashif Mawji, in a news release.

"With this expansion comes new and creative ideas that will help our company continue to innovate as well as bring on board exceptional new talent."

The provincial commitment to the expansion is about $146,000.
