Island Media Arts Festival earns praise
The 2014 Island Media Arts Festival screened 75 films from the Atlantic region this weekend, with filmmakers from around the region participating.
The fifth annual festival wrapped up on Sunday after four days at the Guild in Charlottetown. There were also industry panels and workshops.
About 100 films were submitted this year. Festival curator Cheryl Wagner said she heard many words of praise for the event.
“My heart has been really warmed by the fact that a number of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick filmmakers said to me this is the best festival in the region,” said Wagner.
“This is what festivals used to be when people can meet each other, talk to each other, feel supported, appreciated, and make new connections for new work.”
In November the festival will hit the road and show films in Summerside and Montague.
