Fire has leveled a barn on the Art Ford Cross Rd. in Ebenezer, Queens County, P.E.I.

It was called in about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

New Glasgow Fire Chief Jason Peters said there was not much his firefighters could do to save the building.

"When we got there it was totally engulfed. It happened pretty quick. We responded with all of our trucks and 25 men, and we also had mutual aid water assistance from North River," said Peters.

"The animals perished. There wasn't many there. I think it was a couple of pigs and a goat and a couple of dozen chickens."

It took about two and a half hours to put out the blaze. The fire marshal will be investigating.

Peters said the barn can't be repaired.
