Earth hour interest fading on P.E.I.
The number of Islanders turning off their lights for Earth Hour slipped again this year.
Maritime Electric said electricity use dropped by 1.3 per cent on Saturday night. That equates to just under 2,200 customers observing the worldwide movement to cut electricity use. That's even less interest than last year, when there was a 1.8 per cent reduction in electricity use.
In 2008 there was a 10 per cent reduction in the amount of power consumed during Earth Hour, suggesting about 21,000 households participated.
