Dead whale washes up at West Cape
The body of a decomposing whale has been discovered on the shore in western P.E.I.
The whale was found by passersby a couple of days ago at West Cape. The eight-metre whale was already starting to decay. Despite the smell, it is attracting a lot of interest from curious locals, including Jimmy Getson.
"I felt pretty bad to see a whale because I know they're scarce," said Jimmy Getson.
"To see one dead on the shore … the first thing that comes to mind is you wonder what happened to it."
Getson said it's the first whale he's heard of to wash up in that area in 30 years. Local residents are contacting authorities to arrange for the whale to be buried.
