Brandon Bernard wins judo bronze at Canada Winter Games

Brandon Bernard of Lennox Island won P.E.I.'s first medal at the Canada Winter Games Friday — a bronze in judo.

16-year-old wins first medal for P.E.I.

Brandon Bernard of Lennox Island won P.E.I.'s first medal at the Canada Winter Games Thursday afternoon — a bronze in judo.

Bernard, 16, was competing in the 100-plus kilogram division.

"I was kind of nervous at first, but it felt amazing to represent P.E.I. and my community and my club," said Bernard.

He belongs to the Lennox Island judo club and has participated in the sport for five years.

The Canada Winter Games are being held in Prince George, B.C., until Sunday.
