Winter hasn't officially arrived yet but that hasn't stopped a few ski hills from opening in the Ottawa area.

Camp Fortune opened Saturday at 10 a.m. while Mont-Tremblant opened on Thursday. Mont Ste-Marie hasn't yet opened for the season.

Bob Sudermann, one of the owners of Camp Fortune, is hoping for there's more snow this year than last.

"I'm really good at blocking bad memories and last year was a really bad one," he said. "We had no snow in December, didn't get snow until December 29th ... And in fact it was our second green Christmas in a row."

Still, Suderman said the hill will be ready for skiers and snowboarders if the lack of snow continues.

"We've invested heavily into snow-making and different technologies to allow us to make snow more efficiently at a higher temperature, combined with different grooming techniques," he said.
