Sens donate signed sweater after print stolen from hospitalized fan
Ottawa Senators donate signed team sweater, personalized photos
A rock was used to smash the rear window of a vehicle parked outside the Saint-Vincent Hospital at Cambridge Street North and Primrose Avenue in Centretown on Tuesday, police said.
On Thursday, Justin Greer, 21, was given a signed team sweater along with personalized photos from Spezza and Karlsson.
Spezza said he heard about Greer Thursday morning from his brother and wanted to help.
"For me, when I heard it, we thought, you know, let's act. Let's try to solve this as quick as we can, not worry about finding who took the picture, let's just get something over and make it a better situation than it is, and not having it drag on," he said.
"Obviously, it's very unfortunate and I don't know why someone would want something that's personalized to someone, especially at a hospital."
Police said Greer is "very sick."
Anyone with information about the stolen photo is asked to contact Sgt. Anthony Constantini at 613-236-1222, extension 5635, or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
