Renfrew woman killed in fiery head-on crash on Hwy. 17

A 26-year-old woman from Renfrew, west of Ottawa, was killed after a head-on crash between a car and tractor-trailer on Highway 17.

A 26-year-old woman is dead after a fatal crash on Highway 17, about an hour drive west of Ottawa.

The crash happened at about 9:10 a.m. Wednesday on the highway, just east of Renfrew, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Reports indicated a Suzuki Swift heading east collided with a tractor-trailer heading the opposite direction, police said.

The collision sparked a fire, killing the driver of the car.

She was identified as Amy Kellar, 26, of Renfrew.

The driver and passenger in the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries at the scene of the crash and they have since been released.

OPP investigators arrived at the scene late Wednesday morning. The cause of the crash was not yet known.
