Much attention today will focus on the National War Memorial for a special Remembrance Day commemoration.

But there’s another spot in Ottawa where hundreds of veterans, their families and supporters gathered. The Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre hosts the second largest ceremony in the city.

Two hundred and fifty veterans — men and women — who participated in the Second World War and the Korean War currently live at the Perley.

The CBC's Julie Ireton recently spent an afternoon at the Perley, listening to a veteran's choir and recording the story of one Second World War veteran, Gib McElroy.
