Three people are homeless after an accidental fire at an apartment in Overbrook late Thursday night, according to Ottawa Fire Services.
The fire started when a tenant left a box on a stove at 161 Presland Rd. around 10 p.m., fire investigators said.
Paramedics treated one person, Ottawa Fire Services said.
The fire was under control by 10:30 p.m. but it caused $50,000 in damage, forcing a couple and their 10-year-old granddaughter out of their home, Ottawa Fire Services said.
Victim Services was called to help the family.
