Severe thunderstorm watch for eastern Ontario

Gusty thunderstorms with potentially damaging winds should pass through the Ottawa area today.

Showers and even some gusty thunderstorms will pass through the Ottawa area today starting around noon.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for eastern Ontario and Gatineau, warning of gusts this afternoon up to 100 km/h.

Hail is also possible.

Look for a high near 24 C.

The risk of thunderstorms ends this evening, then there's a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight with a low of 14.

By Thursday, on the back side of this system, we can expect a cooler, breezy day with showers until later in the day.

Then the sun makes its return for the weekend.
