Ottawa police investigating 2 separate shootings overnight
1 wounded in Centrepointe shooting, 7 males arrested after reports of multiple gunshots in Alta Vista
The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is investigating two separate shootings that occurred overnight in the Centrepointe and Alta Vista neighbourhoods.
The shootings happened within seven hours of each other.
A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries after reports of gunshots on the 100-block of Kentsdale Drive at 6 p.m. ET Thursday night.
Ottwa police spokesperson Const. Chuck Benoit said the man had been shot in the abdomen. Police are working to release a description of a suspect. No arrests have been made.
Shots fired outside near park
Then, at about 1 a.m. Friday, police responded to second call of multiple gunshots in the area of Kilborn Place, Bank Street and Riverside Drive.
Police arrested four male suspects at the scene and three more in a vehicle nearby.
The gunshots were fired outside near a park area, but no injuries were reported and police have no information on any damage.
