Greenboro residents say they’re surprised and scared knowing that a 20-year-old woman died after the vehicle she was riding in was shot at Monday night.

The bullets entered the vehicle on the passenger side of the car, according to sources, while it was travelling in the area of Johnston Road and Pennard Way in the city's Greenboro neighbourhood.

The driver of the car dropped off both the injured Yare and her boyfriend at the General campus and then left the scene, according to sources, and police later found the driver on Othello Drive near the Elmvale Acres mall.

Police continue to investigate.
