The Ottawa police major crime unit continues to investigate the city's fifth homicide of 2015 after a woman in her 50s died in a stabbing in the Carlington area.
Ottawa police and paramedics responded just after 1 p.m. Tuesday to the 200 block of Anna Avenue in near General Avenue for a report of a man in distress.
Police said the first paramedic on scene witnessed the woman being stabbed by a man.
Two neighbours then said they saw the woman lying on the street in a pool of blood with a naked man nearby on the lawn.
Police said the woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and she later succumbed to those injuries.
The suspect, a man in his 40s, was arrested, police said, adding the victim and suspect knew each other.
