Ottawa hunter dies after accidental shooting
Man accidentally shot in the head, CBC News has learned
A 22-year-old man was killed in a hunting incident Sunday evening south of Ottawa, near Osgoode, after he was accidentally shot in the head, CBC News has learned.
Police received a call at about 7 p.m. saying the man, 22, had been shot during a hunting excursion at a location near Dalmeny and 2nd Line roads.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the man to hospital.
Family members have confirmed the victim is Andrew Winnicki of Ottawa.
CBC News has learned the man was accidentally shot in the head. The man later died in hospital from his injuries.
A family member said Winnicki was with his uncle and his cousin. There have been conflicting reports from both family and police regarding how the man was shot.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
