Attempted murder charge laid in Renfrew County assault
Man, 72, charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, criminal harassment
A 72-year-old man is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and more after a woman was critically injured in McNab/Braeside Township Thursday afternoon.
Renfrew County OPP were called by paramedics to a wooded area on Gunsmith Road — about 15 kilometres west of Arnprior — at about 3 p.m. Thursday.
A woman with critical injuries was taken to hospital, along with a man who needed treatment for a medical condition and minor injuries, OPP said in a media release issued Friday.
The man, who is from Mississippi Mills, Ont., was later charged with:
- Attempted murder.
- Aggravated assault.
- Criminal harassment.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing in Pembroke, Ont., on Sept. 19.
Later Friday, OPP said the woman's condition had stabilized, and that she remained in hospital.
