Man was armed when shot by police
A 45-year-old man has died after he was shot by Ontario Provincial Police during an altercation last week.
OPP said officers from the Perth detachment responded to a call at a home on Arden Road at Crotch Lake in Central Frontenac Township about 150 kilometres southwest of Ottawa early in the evening of July 25.
Soon after, police said they fired shots during the confrontation with the man, who they said was armed,
The man was struck and he was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He succumbed to those injuries Sunday night at Kingston General Hospital.
The SIU is investigating, which it does whenever police actions in Ontario result in serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
There are five investigators and two forensic investigators assigned to the case.
